Cunningham leads men's runners at IU
Senior Tom Cunningham
(Bridgeport, Illinois) finished first in the open competition of the 200 meters to lead the University of Southern Indiana men's track and field team Saturday at the Gladstein Invitational.
Cunningham finished the race in an indoor school-record 22.31 seconds, which would have placed him fourth in the 200 meter invitational. In addition to his finish in the 200 meters, Cunningham placed third in the 60 meters with a time of 7.03 seconds.
Overall, the Screaming Eagles' had eight top-five finishes, including three in the 3,000 meters and a pair in the 600 meters.
Senior All-American Bryan Phillips
(Kokomo, Indiana) was second in the 3,000 meters with a time of eight minutes, 34.93 seconds, while junior Brandon Campbell
(Portage, Indiana) and freshman Dustin Emerick
(Elmwood, Illinois) were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the same event.
Freshman Corey Dillon
(LaPorte, Indiana) and sophomore Cole Schroer
(Bowling Green, Indiana) finished third and fifth, respectively, in the 600 meters, while junior Andrew Menner
(Greenwood, Indiana) rounded out the Eagles' top-five finishers with a third-place showing in the mile.
USI returns to action next weekend when it competes at the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Indiana.
