First sprinter in school history to earn weekly award
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana senior sprinter Tom Cunningham (Bridgeport, Indiana) has been named the GLVC Men's Track Athlete of the Week.
Cunningham led the Screaming Eagles this past weekend at the Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana. He finished first in the 200 meters, posting a school-record time of 22.31 seconds, and was third in the 60 meters with a time of 7.03 seconds. Cunningham is currently ranked second in the conference in both events.
The award marks the first time in school history that the Eagles have had a sprinter earn GLVC Athlete of the Week honors. Cunningham is seeking a degree in exercise science.
In addition to Cunningham, the University of Indianapolis's Willie Little was named the GLVC Men's Field Athlete of the Week.
