Cunningham leads Eagles at Rose-Hulman

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—Senior sprinter Tom Cunningham (Bridgeport, Illinois) finished first in both the 100 and 200 meters to lead the University of Southern Indiana men's track and field team at the Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet Friday night.
Cunningham finished the 100 meters with a stadium and meet record time of 10.75 seconds, just three one-hundredths of a second shy of his school record. He also finished the 200 meters with a meet record mark of 21.87 seconds, just seven one-hundredths of a second away from his school record.
Joining Cunningham with first-place efforts was senior Bryan Phillips
(Kokomo, Indiana) and junior Brandon Campbell
(Portage, Indiana). Phillips won the 5,000 meters with a time of 15 minutes, 15.77 seconds, while Campbell won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of nine minutes, 32.01 seconds.
In all, the Screaming Eagles had 13 top-five finishes and 16 top-10 performances. Junior Matt Zielske
(Elkhart, Indiana) was fourth in the 3,000 meters and fifth in the 1,500 meters, while senior sprinter Austin Inge
(Ossian, Indiana) was fifth in the javelin and part of the Eagles' fourth-place 4x400-meter relay squad.
Sophomore Wes Masterson
(Danville, Indiana) also helped the Eagles' to a fourth-place effort in the 4x400-meter relay while finishing fourth in the 800 meters.
USI returns to action April 24-25 when it competes at the Hillsdale "Gina" Relays in Hillsdale, Michigan, and the Stan Lyons Open in Indianapolis, Indiana.
