Tom Cunningham |
Cunningham was responsible for 20 of the Screaming Eagles' 69 team points at the GLVC Championships. He became the first student-athlete in USI history to win a GLVC title in a sprinting event, taking home first-place in the 200 meters. He also was third in the 100 meters and helped USI's 4x400-meter relay team to a fifth-place finish at the league meet.

Brandon Campbell |
Campbell also had a big conference meet as he finished first in the steeplechase and seventh in the 5,000 meters, while Emerick captured gold in the 10,000 meters at the GLVC Championships to garner first-team honors. It marks the third consecutive sport that Emerick has been named the GLVC Freshman of the Year after he earned the same honor in cross country and indoor track.
Goodman, the 2008 GLVC Freshman of the Year in indoor and outdoor track, earns first-team All-Conference honors after finishing second in the steeplechase and fifth in the 5,000 meters. Phillips, an All-American in cross country, captured second-team All-League honors with his third-place showing in the 5,000 meters.
USI, which finished fifth as a team at the GLVC Championships, will send a pair of men's runners to the NCAA II Outdoor Championships May 21-23. Emerick will compete in the 10,000 meters, while Goodman will compete in the steeplechase.
