Jellema qualifies for USA Track & Field Championships
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Former University of Southern Indiana All-American Paul Jellema (Dyer, Indiana) qualified for the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in the 10,000 meters Sunday evening at the Oregon Track Club Open in Eugene, Oregon.
Jellema, who was fifth in the event, qualified for the national meet by finishing the race in 28 minutes, 57.40 seconds, nearly four seconds under the qualifying standard. The USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships take place June 25-28 in Eugene.
A former GLVC Runner of the Year and five-time All-American at USI, Jellema competes for the Michigan-based Hanson-Brooks Distance Project. He was 28th at the USA Track and Field Cross Country Championships and was 11th at the USA 8k Championships in 2008.
He graduated from USI in December of 2007 with a degree in Mathematics.
