2006-07
OVERALL: Was USI's top competitor in 2006-07, earning four All-America
honors and being named the NCAA II Great Lakes Region Outdoor Track and
Field Male Athlete of the Year...also earned five All-GLVC honors while
winning three individual GLVC titles and one GLVC relay championship. CROSS COUNTRY:
Earned All-America honors after finishing 24th at the NCAA II Championships
with a season-best 10k time of 30:09.50...also earned All-Region
honors after finishing third at the NCAA II Great Lakes Region Championships
with a 10k time of 31:57.20...earned All-GLVC honors with his second-place
finish at the GLVC Championships...was USI's top finisher in all six of the
meets he competed in...posted a season-best 8k time of 25:13.87 when he
finished sixth at the Saluki Invitational...ranks second all-time in the 10k
at USI with his time of 30:09.50. INDOOR TRACK: Earned All-America
honors in the 5,000 meters after finishing seventh at the NCAA II Indoor
Championships with a season-best time of 14:17.07...time ranks him second
all-time in the indoor 5,000 meters at USI between GLVC Hall of Fame members
Elly Rono and James Nolan...recorded five first-place finishes during the
indoor season...finished first in the 3,000 meters at the GLVC Championships
with a time of 8:23.75...also earned All-GLVC honors in the 3,000 meters as
well as the distance medley relay...broke the school-record in the 3,000
meters with his time of 8:14.31 at the Iowa State Classic...helped USI's DMR
to a first-place finish and a time of 10:12.78 at the GLVC
Championships...ran the 800 meters in a season-best time of 2:03.35 at the
Saluki Booster Invitational...also won the mile with a season-best time of
4:18.32 at the Saluki Booster Invitational...was USI's top performer in the
mile, 3,000 meters, and 5,000 meters. OUTDOOR TRACK: Earned
All-America honors in the 10,000 meters as well as the 5,000
meters...finished fourth in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA II Outdoor
Championships with a time of 14:14.96...was seventh in the 10,000 meters at
the NCAA II Outdoor Championships with a time of 30:08.28...was named the
NCAA II Great Lakes Region Outdoor Track and Field Male Athlete of the
Year...earned All-GLVC honors in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters after
winning both events at the GLVC Outdoor Championships...also was named the
GLVC Male Track Athlete of the Week on April 9 and April 23...was third at
the Hillsdale "Gina" Relays with a top 5,000-meter time of 14:06.96...time
ranks third all-time at USI in the outdoor 5,000 meters...finished eighth in
the 10,000 meters at the Mt. SAC Relays with a season-best time of
29:17.81...time ranks second all-time at USI in the 10,000 meters...finished
first in the 5,000 meters at the Gatorade Classic...posted a season-best
1,500-meter time (3:56.82) at the Vanderbilt Invitational...was USI's top
performer in the 1,500 meters, the 5,000 meters, and the 10,000 meters.
2005-06
CROSS COUNTRY: Earned All-GLVC and All-Region
honors...ran top five for the Eagles in six races, posting a top finish of
fifth at the GLVC Championships with an 8k time of 25:00.05...finished 13th at
the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional championships with a 10k time of
32:08.90...was 113th at the NCAA II Championships...finished 36th in the
Little
State Competition of the Indiana Intercollegiate...was seventh at the Saluki
Invitational with an 8k time of 25:42.57. INDOOR TRACK: Did not
compete. OUTDOOR TRACK: Did not compete.
TRANSFER: At South Suburban College-Transferred from South Suburban College where he did not compete. At University of Illinois-Signed with the University of Illinois out of high school but injuries kept him out of competition during his freshman year...transferred to SSC after one year at Illinois. HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Illiana Christian High School in Lansing, Illinois, where he won two IHSA Class A Cross Country Championships...his state championship winning time of 14:32 was 15 seconds faster than the field and the second-fastest time ever recorded at the state championship...was only the 11th runner in Illinois history to win a pair of state cross country championships...was a three-time conference and regional cross country champion...in track and field, he won the state championship in the 3,200 meters while winning conference and sectionals twice in that event...his personal-best in the 3,200 meters is nine minutes, 20 seconds.
