Men's Golf Coach
Matt Scheessele, Men's golf coach

Matt Scheessele is entering his sixth season at the helm of the USI men's golf program. With an improved squad in 2007-08, Scheessele has directed his players into the upper-half of the GLVC in four of first five seasons as head coach of the Screaming Eagles.

In 2005-06, Scheesele directed the Screaming Eagles to a fourth-place finish. USI was third in 2004-05.

USI also posted a school-record 300.7 strokes-per-round average in 2005-06, breaking the previous mark by more than four strokes per round.

Scheessele assumed control of the program in 2003, becoming only the second head coach in the history of the program.

A member of the USI squad from 1997-2001, Scheessele was a three-time All-Great Lakes Valley Conference performer and had a career average of 77.4 over 78 rounds and 46 tournaments. He also helped the Eagles to three NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional appearances.

In addition to his duties at USI, Scheessele is the assistant professional at Helfrich Hills Golf Course in Evansville, Indiana, a position he has held since the end of his collegiate career. He also is PGA Golf Professional and a member of the PGA of America.
