USI men's golf wins first tournament of 2006-07

OWENSBORO, Ky. The University of Southern Indiana men's golf team won its first tournament of 2006-07 by posting a team 308 in the Kentucky Wesleyan Golf Invitational at the Summit Country Club.

Blake Hilliard (Olney, Indiana) and senior
Matt Fonner (Champaign, Illinois) led the Screaming Eagles by tying for second with identical rounds of 74.
The Eagles also had a second team in the tournament that placed third with a team score of 315. Junior
Ted O'Brien (Santa Claus, Indiana) led USI (Blue) with a 76, placing fifth individually.

Drew Dunkerly (Linton, Indiana) and freshman
Levi Cox (Wadesville, Indiana) also finished in the top 10 for the Eagles, finishing seventh and 10th respectively. Dunkerly shot a 78 for USI's third place squad, while Cox posted a 79 in his first collegiate tournament for USI's invitational winning team.
USI resumes action next week in the 36-hole Northern Kentucky Invitational at the Perry Park Golf Course in Perry Park, Kentucky, September 10-11.
