USI places eighth in the Parkside Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ind. The University of Southern Indiana men's golf team placed eighth in the Parkside Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Indiana.

The Screaming Eagles shot a two-round 604 (297-307) to finish 28 strokes off the pace set by tournament champions UW-Parkside. The Rangers led the field with a 36-hole 582 (285-297).
USI was led by junior
Nick Frazer (Evansville, Indiana), who tied for 11th with a two-day 147 (69-78). Frazer had the team's best round of the touranment with a 69 on the first day.
The first-round 69 marked the third straight round that USI has had a player shoot under 70.
Frazer was followed by senior
Matt Fonner (Champaign, Illinois), who tied for 16th as an individual with a 148 (71-77). Among USI's scoring players, senior
Caleb Hughes (Carmi, Illinois) was second to Frazer with a 150 (73-77) to tie for 25th.
The Eagles resume action March 31 and April 1 in the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional #2 in Perry Park, Kentucky, and hosted by Northern Kentucky University. The regional tournament is the second of three tournaments held each year and factor into the which teams qualify for the NCAA II Super Regional in May.
