USI men's golf places 10th at GLVC Championships
Eagles can't overcome first round struggles

COLUMBUS, Ind. The University of Southern Indiana men's golf team could not overcome a tough first round and finished 10th in the GLVC Championships at the Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Indiana.
The Screaming Eagles shot a three-round 939 (321-309-309), finishing 53 strokes off the pace set by GLVC champion Northern Kentucky University. NKU posted a blistering 886 (297-294-295) over the three days.
USI was last after the first day when it recorded a 321, but moved up four spots after shooting a pair of 309 rounds in the last two days.
Individually, junior Ted O'Brien (Santa Claus, Indiana) led the Eagles with a 233 (84-76-73)and tied for 36th. He was followed by junior Blake Hilliard (Olney, Illinois), who tied for 38th with a three-round 234 (81-74-79).
The Eagles resume action in the third NCAA II Great Lakes Regional tournament of the year April 14-15. The tournament will be held at the Timbergate Golf Course in Edinburgh, Indiana.
