USI men's golf finishes in top 10 of fall regional

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. The University of Southern men's golf team improved by 10 strokes in the second round to finish 10th at the Great Lakes Fall Regional in South Haven, Michigan. The tournament was played at the Hawk's Head Golf Course and hosted by Grand Valley State University.

The Screaming Eagles finished the tournament with a two-day 598 (304-294) and reached the top 10 by shaving 10 strokes off its first day total. The second round 294 was the first round this year that the Eagles had broke the 300 plateau and was tied for eighth best round of the second day.
USI finished 24 strokes off the pace set by tournament winner Ashland University. Ashland posted a two-under 574 (295-279) for the tournament and was nine-under as a team with a 279 in the second round.
Individually for USI, senior
Nick Frazer led the squad with a two-round 149 (77-72) and tied for 30th. Senior
Blake Hilliard (Olney, Illinois) and junior
Keaton Bradshaw (Carmi, Illinois) followed Frazer by tying for 38th.
Hilliard shot a 150 (76-74) after cutting a pair strokes in the second round. Bradshaw showed the biggest improvement for USI, shooting a 150 (78-72) by cutting six strokes off his game during the final round.
USI senior
Ted O'Brien (Santa Claus, Indiana) and freshman
Matt Hancock (Ft. Branch, Indiana) rounded out USI's players. O'Brien tied for 55th with a two-day 152 (73-79), while Hancock tied for 89th with a 156 (80-76) in his first collegiate tournament.
The next action for the Eagles will be September 30 and October 1 in the Drury University Fall Classic. The tournament will be held at the Rivercut Country Club in Springfield, Missouri.
