USI opens GLVC action with a win
Eagles climbed over the .500 mark

EVANSVILLE, Ind.. – The University of Southern Indiana baseball team climbed over the .500 mark for the first time this year with a 6-3 win over the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday afternoon at soggy USI Baseball Field. USI raises its record to 8-7 overall and 1-0 in the GLVC, while UW-Parkside fall to 0-5 overall, 0-1 GLVC.
After the game was delayed due to a three-hour rain delay, the second game of the doubleheader was canceled.
USI senior left-hander
Cory Julian (Lynnville, Indiana) pitched seven-plus innings to pick up his second victory of the season. Julian allowed four hits and three unearned runs, while walking three and striking out six.
Julian was followed to the mound by sophomore right-hander
Casey Geiger (Albion, Indiana), who pitched the Eagles out of a no-out bases loaded jam with only two unearned runs scoring, and junior right-hander
Shaun Larsen (Tell City, Indiana), who pitched the final inning to post his fifth save of the year.

The Eagles run production scored all of their runs between the second and sixth inning. USI sandwiched a two-run fourth between single-run innings in the second, third, fifth, and sixth.
Offensive, USI junior second baseman
Josh Huebner (Evansville, Indiana) and senior first baseman
Matt Pleiss (Newburgh, Indiana). Huebner was three-for-four with two runs scored and a RBI, while Pleiss was three-for-five with a run scored and a RBI.
The Eagles and the Rangers conclude the four-game series Sunday with a noon doubleheader.
