USI takes seventh at NKU Spring Invitational

GEORGETOWN, Ky. The University of Southern Indiana men's golf team finished seventh out of 21 teams at the NKU Spring Invitational in Georgetown, Kentucky over the weekend. The tournament is one of three regional tournaments that are factored into the selection of which teams advance to the NCAA Division II East Regional.
As a team, USI Head Coach Matt Scheessele's squad shot a two-round 587 (289, 298) at Cherry Blossom Golf Course. USI finished 10 strokes behind the first-place total posted by the University of Indianapolis. The Greyhounds combined for a two-day 577 (285, 292), winning the event by one stroke over Grand Valley State (578).
The Screaming Eagles were in fourth place following the first round after they shot a season-best 289. USI lowered its season-best mark by five strokes on Saturday, surpassing the previous season low of 294 at the Great Lakes Fall Regional Tournament.
Sophomore Aaron Anderson (Elizabethtown, KY) led the way for USI with a two-round 145 (72, 73) and a tie for 14th place. Senior Nick Frazer (Evansville, IN) tied for 25th with a two-day total of 147 (72, 75). Both Anderson and Frazer matched their single-round season-low scores of 72.
The Screaming Eagles compete in the GLVC Championships beginning next Sunday April, 13 at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Indiana.
