USI is tied for second after the first round
First Round Results
COLUMBUS, Ind. The University of Southern Indiana men's golf team is tied for second place after the first round of the GLVC Championship at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Indiana.
The Screaming Eagles and the Bellarmine Knights both shot a 299, 10 strokes behind the leader. The University of Indianapolis, which has finished in the top two of its last two tournaments, continued its impressive stretch of golf with a 289 in the opening round.
Senior Blake Hilliard (Olney, Illinois) led the way for USI with a 73 (38,35) and is tied with three other golfers for fifth place. Senior Ted O'Brien (Santa Clause, Indiana) and freshman Matt Hancock (Ft. Branch, Indiana) are part of a six-way tie for 15th-place after shooting a first-round 75.
Sophomore Aaron Anderson (Elizabethtown, Kentucky) shot a 76, while senior Nick Frazer (Evansville, Indiana) ended the day with a 78 to round out the scoring for the Eagles.
Drury University's Thomas Hay and Indianapolis' Seth Fair and Blair Webb are the leaders in the clubhouse after shooting one under par with a opening-round 71.
The Screaming Eagles will be back on the course tomorrow for the second round of the GLVC Championship.
