USI wins KWC Invitational

OWENSBORO, Ky. The University of Southern Indiana men's golf team won the Kentucky Wesleyan College Inviational Friday in Owensoboro, Kentucky. The Screaming Eagles won by recording a two-day 588 (295-293), five strokes better than the University of St. Francis' 593 (303-290).
Invidually, USI was led by the second place finish of junior Aaron Anderson (Elizabethtown, Kentucky). Anderson finished one stroke back of USF's Jared Friedt with a 143 (70-73). Friedt shot a 142 (71-71).
Anderson was first after the first round with a one-under 70. The 70 also was USI top round in the tournament.
Also finishing in the top 10 was sophomore Matt Hancock (Ft. Branch, Indiana) and freshman Blake Zeller (Evansville, Indiana). Hancock tied for fifth with a 147 (76-71), while Zeller tied for seveth with a 149 (74-75) in his first collegiate tournament.
USI continues action this fall at the Northern Kentucky Invitational on September 14-15 at the Cherry Blossom Country Club in Georgetown, Kentucky.
