USI is 14th in regional tournament

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. -- The University of Southern Indiana men's golf team registered a two-round 600 (305-295), but finished 14th at the Great Lakes Fall Regional Tournament at Hawk's Head Golf Course in South Haven, Michigan. The regional tournament is first of three regional tournaments used to determine NCAA Division II Super-Regional qualifiers.
The Screaming Eagles were 18th in the 21 team field after the first round, shooting a 300. The squad bounced in the second round, improving its position in the standing by four sports and the team score by 10 with a 295.
Overall in the tournament, the Eagles finished 50 strokes off the pace set by the University of Indianapolis. The Greyhounds shot a blistering 550 (279-271), 26 strokes under par.
USI was led by sophomore
Matt Hancock (Ft. Branch, Indiana), who tied for 19th with a 36-hole 145 (70-75). The first round 70 was a single round career best for Hancock, while the 145 also was a career low over 36-holes.
Hancock was followed by sophomore
Michael KoronKiewicz (Goshen, Indiana), who tied for 51st with a 150 (78-72).
The Eagles return to action September 29-30 at the Drury Fall Classic in Springfield, Missouri. Drury University will host the tournament at Rivercut Country Club.
