USI men's golf is 8th at Drury Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The University of Southern Indiana men's golf team tied for eighth at the Drury Invitational in Springfield, Missouri, at the Rivercut Country Club.
The Screaming Eagles tied Southwest Baptist University and Lincoln University for eighth by shooting a 606 (299-307). USI was sixth after the first day with a first round 299, but fell into the eighth place tie after posting a team 307 in the final round.
The Eagles finished 19 strokes off the pace of tournament champion Missouri Western State University. MWSU posted a two-round 587 (281-306).
USI was led by sophomore Joel Smith (Zionsville, Indiana), who tied for 24th with a two-round 151 (76-75).
The Eagles resume action Saturday in the USI-UE Challenge, followed by the squad going to Skyhawk Fall Classic for the final tournament of the fall on October 13-14.
