University of Southern Indiana menís soccer Head Coach Dan Hogan did not receive a warm welcome to his alma mater as Truman State University shutout the Screaming Eagles in the season opener, 2-0, Saturday afternoon in Kirksville, Missouri.

The Eagles stayed even with the Bulldogs for nearly 68 minutes before Truman Stateís forward Lars Pottgiesser scored on a penalty kick at 67:43. Truman State put the game away at the 80:43 mark when forward Ricky Vigil scored off passes from forward Sean Birrell and Pottgiesser.

USI sophomore goalkeeper Josh Hill had four saves in the game, one in the first half and three in the second frame.

The Eagles had 11 shots at the Truman State goal with seven on goal. TSU goalkeeper Adam Johnson had to make six of his seven saves in the first half.

USIís menís soccer team will return to action next weekend on a neutral site in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Eagles will play Ashland University at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 6, and Hillsdale College at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 8.
