Settles named GLVC Player of the Week
University of Southern Indiana junior forward Matt Settles (Evansville, Indiana) was named the men’s soccer Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in the Screaming Eagles’ win over the University of St. Francis Sunday.
Settles sealed the Screaming Eagles’ 4-1 victory over the Fighting Saints with the third hat trick of his career. Settles also had a hand in the USI’s first goal of the match, getting an assist on senior forward Greg Henry’s (France) first goal of the year.
For the season, Settles leads the Eagles with nine points on four goals and one assist. His first goal of the season was the game-winner in overtime against nationally-ranked Hillsdale College.
Settles and the Eagles will open the Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule this week, starting with a road match at Northern Kentucky University Friday, September 20. Match time on Friday is 4:30 p.m. (CT).
