The Eagles struck for their first goal late in the first half off the foot of senior back Steve Hendrickson (Granite City, Illinois). Hendrickson scored his first goal of the season and his second as an Eagle off a pass from senior midfielder Nick Ingalls (Greenfield, Indiana).
Entering the second half with a 1-0 lead, the Eagles took a commanding 2-0 lead five minutes into the second half. Ingalls participated in the other side of the scoring play with his second goal of the season at the 50:59 mark. The senior forward scored after receiving a pass from junior midfielder Jared Anslinger (Evansville, Indiana).
USI put the game out of reach of the Bearcats in the final ten minutes on a goal by senior forward/midfielder Duncan Bray (Scotland). Bray, the USI leader in points, hit the back of the net for his eighth goal of the season on a play set up by junior forwards Scott Henderson (Evansville, Indaina) and Matt Settles (Evansville, Indiana).
On the defensive side, freshman goalkeeper Kyle Penick (Evansville, Indiana) shined between the posts for USI. Penick made eight saves, one short of a season-high, and faced down 16 McKendree shots. The shutout was the fifth of the season for Penick, who has a 9-3-0 this season.
