Havill joins USI men’s soccer staff
The University of Southern Indiana men’s soccer team announced the hiring of Clay Havill as an assistant coach. Havill will replace Ryan Tucker, who graduated in May and has become the graduate assistant for the women’s soccer program at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
Havill joins the USI program after spending last season as the head coach at Mater Dei High School.
Prior to spending last season at the high school level, Havill spent three of four seasons as the team captain at the University of Evansville. He was a two-time Academic All-American, a first team All-Region Scholar Athlete, and a three-time Missouri Valley Conference Scholar Athlete during his tenure at Evansville.
On the field, Havill was a two-time first team All-MVC performer.
“Clay will add a new dimension to our program,” said USI head coach Dan Hogan. “He competed at a very high level at Evansville and will bring that experience to our program.
“We will miss Ryan Tucker,” continued Hogan. “He was 100 percent dependable and is going to be a very good head coach one day. Ryan will be working for Dave Poggi at ULL. Poggi was the first coach I worked for at Northeast Missouri State University in 1986-88.”
