The University of Southern Indiana men’s soccer team has been picked to finish fourth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Preseason Poll in a vote done by the league’s coaches. The Screaming Eagles finished with 70 points.
Lewis University, which received 95 points and seven first-place votes, was picked to win the league crown while Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, the 2002 GLVC Tournament champion, was picked to finish second with 93 points and four first-place votes.
Just ahead of USI in the poll was Quincy University, whom the Eagles knocked out of the GLVC Tournament in 2002. Quincy received 77 points.
The Eagles finished second in last season’s GLVC Tournament and return All-Region, All-GLVC, and Academic All-America performer Duncan Bray (Shetland, Scotland) as well as the 2002 co-GLVC Freshman of the Year in goalkeeper Kyle Penick (Evansville, Indiana).
