USI menís soccer falls in overtime

The University of Southern Indiana menís soccer team failed to hold onto a 2-0 lead, falling 3-2 in overtime to Florida Southern University in Lakeland, Florida, Sunday afternoon. USIís record falls to 1-3-0 overall, while FSU goes to 2-3-0 in 2003.
The Screaming Eagles took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a goal by senior midfielder Greg Dingrando (Marion, Illinois). The goal, which came at 13:49, was the second of the season for Dingrando. Freshman back Brian Shepherd (St. Louis, Missouri) was awarded an assist on the play.
USI increased the lead to 2-0 on a goal by freshman forward Neil Peluchette (Evansville, Indiana). Peluchette, who scored at 69:15, was assisted on his first collegiate goal by senior midfielder Duncan Bray (Scotland).
The Moccasins snaked their way back into the game with a pair of goals to send the match into overtime. FSU got the game winner from senior back Rob Sanger with 4:50 to play in the first ďsudden victoryĒ overtime.
The next action for the Eagles will be the GLVC opener when they host the University of Wisconsin-Parkside for a menís and womenís doubleheader at Strassweg Field Friday, September 19. Match time for the womenís game will be 5 p.m., while the men kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
