Bray and Settles named All-Region
University of Southern Indiana men’s soccer senior midfielders Duncan Bray (Scotland) and Matt Settles (Evansville, Indiana) were named to the 2003 All-Central Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of American and adidas.
Bray, a two-time first team All-GLVC player, was named first team All-Region for the second straight season after leading USI in scoring with 19 points on six goals and seven assists. His 19 points ranked him ninth in the GLVC in scoring, while his seven assists were tied for fourth in the league.
“Duncan once again showed that he is one of the best players in the Central Region,” said USI Head Coach Dan Hogan. “His high level of performance has been consistent the past two seasons.”
Settles, who was named first team All-GLVC for the first time this fall, earned All-Region honors for the first time in his career and was named to the second team. He ranked second on the team with 18 points on six goals and six assists and posted a team-high five game winning goals. The 18 points ranked Settles 10th in the GLVC in scoring.
“Matt scored some really big goals for us this season,” said Hogan. “He did an outstanding job adapting to the midfield after playing as a forward his first three years.”
The Screaming Eagles finished 2003 with a 10-7-1 overall record and was second in the GLVC with an 8-2-0 conference record. USI, who reached a second straight GLVC semifinals for the first time since 1990 and 1991, finished tied for third in the GLVC Tournament.
