USI wins second in a row

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team won its second match in a row, defeating Kentucky Wesleyan College, 2-1, Friday afternoon in Owensboro, Kentucky. USI, which is beginning a four-match road swing, goes to 5-7-0 overall and 3-5-0 in the GLVC.
The Screaming Eagles struck first with 1:09 to play before halftime. USI junior midfielder Evan Stoll (Washington, Indiana) headed a corner kick from freshman midfielder Tyree Robinson (Indianapolis, Indiana). The goal was Stoll's team-best fifth of the season.
USI sophomore forward Michael Dugger
(Hanson, Kentucky) gave USI a 2-0 lead early in the second half. Freshman forward Mike Bendzen
(Evansville, Indiana) and sophomore midfielder Jason Blose
(Longmont, Colorado) combined to take the ball down the right touch line before Blose passed the ball to Dugger for his second goal of the year.
The Eagles continued to play well defensively, allowing on their third goal in the last four matches and 376 minutes of action. Senior goalkeeper Kyle Penick
(Evansville, Indiana) has a 0.72 goals against average over the last four matches.
USI will play outside of the GLVC Sunday when it travels to Ohio to play the University of Findlay. Kick-off is 11 a.m. (CDT).
