USI out shoots UMSL, but falls 1-0

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team out shot the University of Missouri-St. Louis, but lost, 1-0, Friday night in St. Louis, Missouri. USI falls to 2-10-1 overall and 1-8-1 GLVC, while UMSL goes to 7-4-2, 4-4-2 GLVC.
UMSL got the game-winning goal in the first half when midfielder Michael Simpson headed in a cross at the 36:57 mark.
The Screaming Eagles out shot the Rivermen, 12-8, in the match, 8-3 in the second half. USI made UMSL goalkeeper Zach Hoette record six saves to earn the shutout. USI sophomore goalkeeper Jake Bryan (Portage, Indiana) allowed the game's only goal and made one save.
The Eagles conclude the road trip noon Sunday at the University of Missouri-Rolla. USI returns to Strassweg Field for a final three-match homestand next week, beginning October 13 against Northern Kentucky University.
