The Eagles, who were 3-12-2 overall in 2006, need to have goal production to be successful in 2007. USI does return half of its goal production from last year, led by senior forward
Evan Stoll (Washington, Indiana).
Stoll was third on the team a year ago with five points on two goals and one assist.
Mercyhurst was 17-4-0 a year ago and returns its top scorer in sophomore forward Kurt Young. Young had 39 points on 18 goals and three assists as a freshman.
MC senior midfielder Kyle Jackson followed Young in the scoring column with 23 points on seven goals and a team-best nine assists.
Gannon posted an 11-6-1 record last fall and also brings back its best offensive player in senior forward/midfielder Rudi Costa. Costa posted 22 points on the scoreboard on a team-high 11 goals.
Knight's junior midfielder Tomas Latocha followed Costa by recording 14 points on five goals and four assists. The five goals and four assists were second on the squad.
The Eagles will be looking for its first win over Mercyhurst Friday with the Lakers leading the series, 4-0-0. Mercyhurst shut out USI last year, 1-0, at Strassweg Field.
USI is 1-4-1 against Gannon after falling to the Knights last fall, 2-0. The Eagles have not beaten the Knights since 1991 when USI won 2-0 in overtime in Erie.
