USI men's soccer blanks KWC, 1-0
Eagles start 3-1 for the first time since 2001

– The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team opened 2007 GLVC play with a 1-0 shutout of Kentucky Wesleyan College Tuesday afternoon in Owensboro, Kentucky. USI takes its record to 3-1-0 overall for the first time since 2001 and 1-0-0 in the GLVC, while KWC fell to 0-2-1, 0-1-0 GLVC.
The USI-KWC match-up kicked off the 2007 GLVC schedule for the conference, resulting in the Eagles landing in first place. The remainder of the GLVC teams start conference action this weekend.
The shutout also marked the first time since 2003 that the Eagles had blanked two straight opponents. USI junior goalkeeper Andrew Hults
(Valley Park, Missouri) was credited with his second shutout as an Eagle, making seven saves in 90 minutes of action.
The game-winning goal was scored at the 68:33 mark when freshman midfielder Justin Fox
(Avon, Indiana) scored his first collegiate goal. USI freshman midfielder Michael Simcock
(England) was credited with his team-best second assist of the year.
USI continues GLVC action on the road this weekend when it travels to Quincy University Friday and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Sunday. Match time Friday is 7:30 p.m., while Sunday's is 2:30 p.m.
