USI men's soccer to host Truman State Friday
Game time changed to 7 p.m.
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team completes its three-match homestand Friday when it hosts Truman State University. The USI-TSU kick-off has been moved up to 7 p.m. from the original 7:30 p.m. start time.
The Screaming Eagles (4-4-0) are coming off a 1-1-0 week in the GLVC. USI posted a 3-2, come-from-behind victory over Saint Joseph's College, but was shutout by the University of Indianapolis, 4-0.
For the week, USI was led by senior forward Evan Stoll (Washington, Indiana), senior midfielder Carl Carr (England), freshman forward Dan Dormeier (Newburgh, Indiana), and freshman midfielder Michael Simcock (England) with two points each. Stoll, Carr, and Dormeier had one goal each, while Simcock had a pair of assists.
Carr leads the team through eight matches with seven points on three goals and one assist. Simcock has chipped in with six points on one goal and a team-high four assists.
The Bulldogs of Truman State (5-2-0) are in the midst of a four-match winning streak after starting the year 1-2-0. Truman State won its only match last week, defeating Upper Iowa University, 4-0.
For the season, Truman State is led by freshman midfielder Dan Meagher with six points on a team-best three goals.
USI finishes this week's non-conference action when it visits Oakland City University (1-7-0) Sunday at 3 p.m. The Mighty Oaks, who are scheduled to play Kentucky Christian University prior to hosting USI on Sunday, are in the midst of a seven game losing streak after losing to Kentucky Wesleyan College, 4-2, Tuesday afternoon.
