Settles connects on two goals to lead USI past SWIC in exhibition
Evansville native Matt Settles connected on two goals to lead the University of Southern Indiana men’s soccer team to a 3-1 win over Southwestern Illinois College in an exhibition match this evening at Strassweg Field. The sophomore stuck the game-winner into the net off a break-a-way steal with 25 minutes remaining in the contest.
Junior Ryan Williams (Greenfield, Indiana) put the game on ice when he knocked the ball into the net off a rebound. Sophomore Steve Hendrickson (Granite City, Illinois) was credited with the assists after just missing on the shot prior to William’s goal.
Junior John Havill (Washington, Indiana) was also credited with an assist.
The Eagles will open the regular season Wednesday, August 29, with match against Rockhurst College. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Strassweg Field.
