USI men's soccer stumbles in second half
Men’s Game:

The University of Southern Indiana men’s soccer team had the early lead, but could not stop third-ranked Lewis University, falling 5-1 Sunday afternoon at Strassweg Field. USI falls to 3-5-0, 0-4-0 GLVC, while Lewis raises its record 9-0-1, 3-0-1 GLVC.
The Screaming Eagles took the early 1-0 lead at 13:07 on a the fifth goal of the seasons by sophomore forward Matt Settles (Evansville, Indiana). Senior forward Ed Pieper (St. Louis, Missouri) was credited with an assist on the play, shooting the pass to Settles for the break away.
USI led the game for the next 28 minutes before Lewis tied the match 1-1 just before halftime. The Flyers exploded for four goals in the second half, scoring at 53:45, 68:32, 79:10, and 79:59.
The Eagles will return to action at Strassweg Field Friday, September 28, when USI hosts Oakland City University in a men’s and women’s doubleheader. USI will resume GLVC action next Sunday, September 30, traveling to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
