USI soccer falls 4-1 to SIUE

University of Southern Indiana (4-6-0, 0-5-0 GLVC): 1
The University of Southern Indiana men's soccer team dropped to 0-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a 4-1 loss to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in Edwardsville Illinois Sunday afternoon. USI falls to 4-6-0 overall, while SIUE goes to 7-1-2, 3-0-1 GLVC.
SIUE jumped out to a 1-0 at halftime and a 3-0 lead before USI's senior forward Ed Pieper (St. Louis, Missouri) scored USI's only goal at 82:50 to make the score 3-1. The goal was the eighth of the season for Pieper, a career high.
The Cougars picked up their final goal at 88:42 for a final score of 4-1.
The Eagles will resume GLVC action on Friday, October 5, on the road in Quincy, Illinois to take on the Quincy Hawks in a 7:30 p.m. match. The next action at home will be Sunday, October 7, when the University of Missouri-St. Louis visits Strassweg Field for a 2:30 p.m. match.
