Anslinger named GLVC Player of the Week
University of Southern Indiana's sophomore midfielder/back Jared Anslinger (Evansville, Indiana) was named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week for men's soccer. Anslinger, who returned to the line-up after missing the last two matches with a knee injury, helped propel the Eagles to a pair of overtime victories on Friday and Sunday.
On the road at Quincy University, Anslinger scored in the 85th minute to send the match into overtime for an eventual 4-3 USI victory. It was USI's first-ever win over the Hawks. The Evansville, Indiana, native and North High School graduate went one step further on Sunday against the University of Missouri-St. Louis, tying the contest in the 89th minute and hitting the game-winner in overtime for the 4-3 victory over the Rivermen.
For the season, Anslinger has nine points in eight matches on four goals and one assist.
The Screaming Eagles, 6-6-0 overall and 2-5-0 GLVC, resume action Friday, October 12, when they host Truman State University in a 7 p.m. match at Strassweg Field. USI continues GLVC action on the road Sunday, October 14, at Kentucky Wesleyan College. The USI-KWC match will start at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
