USI puts three on the men’s tennis All-GLVC team
The University of Southern Indiana men’s tennis team placed three players — seniors Paulus Halim and Bhavesh Chadda and junior Weston Phillips — on the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference team in a vote of the league’s coaches. This was the second season for Halim and Phillips to receive the award.
Halim has posted a 13-8 overall record this year, 10-5 at number one singles and 4-2 in the GLVC. Paulus also combined with his brother, Daniel, to record a 7-14 doubles record, 6-11 in the number one position.
Phillips and Chadda tied for the USI lead in wins with identical 14-6 records. Phillips was 11-3 at number two singles, while Chadda was 8-4 at number three and 3-0 at number four singles. Chadda also was a perfect 6-0 in the GLVC, while Phillips was 5-1.
Chadda and Phillips also combined for a 17-8 overall doubles record. The pair was 12-6 in the number two slot and was 5-2 against the GLVC.
The Eagles finished second the GLVC after appearing in the GLVC Tournament Championship game for the sixth consecutive year. USI finished the 2002-03 schedule with a 10-9 overall record.
