McGuire joins the USI men’s tennis program
The University of Southern Indiana men’s tennis team announced Andrew McGuire has committed to play for the Screaming Eagles in 2004-05. McGuire is the second player to commit to USI and Head Coach Ross Brown this summer.
McGuire, who joins teammate Jarod Epkey in coming to USI this fall, is a three-year letterwinner in tennis at Center Grove High School (Greenwood, Indiana). He was a 2002 All-State performer in doubles and was a 2003 All-District player in singles.
McGuire and Epkey helped lead CGHS to the 2001 Indiana state championships three straight sectional, regional, and county championships and to the 2001 and 2002 Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference championships.
The native of Greenwood, Indiana, also is ranked #2 in Central Indiana in doubles and #25 in singles.
Andrew will bring needed depth to our team in both singles and doubles,” said Brown. “He is good athlete, more importantly has the desire to improve and get better. I'm just very excited about getting another quality player from Indiana that will add to our team on and off the court.”
The Eagles, who were 14-8 overall last year, have appeared in five straight NCAA Division II Tournaments, won the GLVC Tournament four times since 1999, and the GLVC regular season titles four times since 1998.
