Eagles fall to Tennessee-Martin

MARTIN, Tenn.—The University of Southern Indiana men’s tennis team fell to the University of Tennessee-Martin, 5-2, Monday afternoon at the UTM Varsity Tennis Courts.
The Screaming Eagles (5-6) fell behind 1-0 prior singles competition after being swept in all three doubles matches. USI picked up wins at number one and two singles, but lost in three, four, five, and six singles.
Sophomore Joe Epkey (Greenwood, Indiana) defeated Gustavo Anzola 7-6 (12-10), 6-1 at number one singles, while freshman Jarrod Epkey (Greenwood, Indiana) defeated Dirk Pirinsolo 5-7, 6-4, 11-9 at number two singles. Joe Epkey improves to 19-5 overall, while Jarrod Epkey improves to 12-6 on the season.
The Eagles will return to action Friday when they travel to Romeoville, Illinois, to take on Lewis University. Match time is slated for 3 p.m.
