USI stumbles on the road to begin spring season
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team stumbled to begin the spring half of the 2005-06 season, losing to Austin Peay State University, 6-1, Wednesday afternoon. USI falls to 0-3.
Senior number one Ryan Hughes (England) posted the only victory for the Eagles, defeating Ankur Singla in three sets (3-6, 6-3, 10-8). The rest of the Eagles line-up lost in straight sets.
The Eagles narrowly missed picking up the doubles point by number one doubles Hughes and freshmand Bodene Scott (Australia) and number three doubles sophomore Ryan McDaniel and freshman Bryan Sulcer (Olney, Illinois) lost their matches 9-7.
USI will open the home part of the spring schedule by hosting Murray State University Saturday at 6 p.m. The matches will be held at Advantage Court and Fitness.
