USI men's tennis starts 2006-07 campaign in September
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team starts action in the 2006-07 campaign when it plays in the DePauw Invitational Tournament September 15-16. In addition to the DePauw Invitational, the Screaming Eagles are scheduled to play in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional Championship and in dual matches at home against Oakland City University and on the road against Lipscomb University and the University of Tennessee-Martin.
Leading the Eagles in to the 2006-07 is junior Andrew McGuire (Greenwood, Indiana). McGuire led USI in victories last year with an 11-12 overall record, 8-10 in dual matches. He also was 6-10 while playing in number three singles.
McGuire and sophomore Nathan Moore (Santee, California) combined to tie for the team lead in doubles play, posting a 7-6 overall record. The pair, who was the number two team in doubles, were 3-0 GLVC action.
The Eagles are under the direction of Head Coach Ross Brown. Brown, who directed the Eagles to the GLVC championship in 2005 and to three NCAA II Tournament appearances, has a record of 41-41 overall at USI and 23-6 in the GLVC during his four-year tenure.
