USI falls to Tennessee-Martin, 8-1
EVANSVILLE, Ind. The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to the University of Tennessee-Martin Saturday at the Advantage Court and Fitness. USI falls to 1-5 overall, while UTM goes to 2-3 this year.
The Skyhawks opened the match by sweeping the doubles matches and finished the day by winning five of the six singles matches.
USI's highlight was the play of junior Christoph Burger (Germany), who won at number one singles. Burger defeated UTM's Stephan Bruwer in three sets, winning 6-3, 6-7 (4) and 6-3.
The Eagle go on the road for the next nine matches on the road, beginning with Florida Gulf Coast on March 5.
The next home match for the Eagles will be April 2 when they host Northern Kentucky University for a non-conference match.
