USI men's tennis stops losing streak
Eagles go 1-2 in Cumberland Spring Fling Invitational

LEBANON, Tenn. The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team broke an eight-match losing streak with a 6-1 victory over the University of Cumberlands in the first round of the Cumberland University Spring Fling Invitational in Lebanon, Tennessee.
USI junior Christoph Burger (Germany) and sophomore Bodene Scott (Australia) started the tournament with an 8-3 victory at number one doubles. Juniors Andrew McGuire (Greenwood, Indiana) and Ryan McDaniel (Bargersville, Indiana) completed the doubles sweep with a shutout at number doubles 8-0.
Cumberlands defaulted number three doubles.
Burger, McGuire, McDaniel, and Scott sealed the victory by winning one through four singles matches. Burger and McGuire needed a tie-breaker to win at one and two singles.
The Eagles would finish fourth in the tourament after losing the Cumberland, 5-0, and the University of North Alabama 8-0.
USI resumes action Wednesday at Austin Peay State University for a 1 p.m. match.
