Burger advances to regional quarterfinals before bowing out
Burger and McGuire also advanced to doubles quarterfinals

MIDLAND, Mich. University of Southern Indiana senior Christoph Burger (Germany) advanced quarterfinals to the Wilson/ITA Great Lakes Regional before bowing out to lead the Screaming Eagles in the tournament. Burger also combined with senior Andrew McGuire (Greenwood, Indiana) to make to the quarterfinals of the doubles tournament before dropping out of the bracket.
The fifth seeded Burger posted victories over Wayne State University's Kevin Turnbull in the second round and Antiione Marenaud in the third round before losing to Drury University's Stefan Borg in the quarterfinals. Burger had started the tournament with a bye in the first round.
In doubles, the sixth seeded Burger and McGuire opened the tournament with a victory over Tiffin University's Phil Conley and Harry Smith. The pair advanced through the second round with a win over Lake Superior State University's Brandon Clayton and Pawel Wegrzyn and the third round with a triumph over Grand Valley State University's RenatoTamashiro and Patrick Troy.
The tournament concluded for USI when Burger and McGuire lost to Northwood University's Peter Kazianschuetz and Henryk Seeger in the final four.
The next action for the Eagles will be a dual match September 29 at the University of Tennessee-Martin.
