Burger named first team Academic All-District V

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana men's tennis senior
Christoph Burger was named first team
ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District V in a vote of the district's sports information directors. Burger moves onto the Academic All-America ballot.
The senior from Wasserburg, Germany, is a majoring in management at USI and has a 3.98 grade point average.
To be eligible for Academic All-District and All-America, the nominee must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale. The student athlete must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and completed at least one full academic year at the institution.
District V includes NCAA II, NCAA III, and NAIA institutions from Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Manitoba and Ontario.
Burger, who has been USI's top player the last two years, had a singles record of 17-7 and a doubles record of 13-11 in 2007-08. The 2008 All-GLVC performer was 13-5 at number one singles in dual matches, while combining with junior
Nathan Sexton (Santee, California) for 9-7 record at number one doubles.
The USI men's tennis team finished 2007-08 season with an 8-12 overall record, a 5-5 mark in the GLVC, and advanced to the GLVC Tournament.
