USI men's tennis concludes regular season on down note

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team finished the 2008-09 regular season with a 7-2 loss to Rockhurst University Saturday at the USI Tennis Courts. The Screaming Eagles finish the regular season with a 7-7 overall and 4-5 in the GLVC, while Rockhurst goes to 15-5, 8-1 GLVC.
USI was only able to get a pair of victories against Rockhurst, which will be the number two seed in the GLVC Tournament next week. Senior Nathan Sexton (Santee, California) and sophomore Ben Hamm (Batesville, Indiana) recorded USI's first victory of the match with an 8-5 win at number two doubles, while freshman Ben Roeser (Waynesville, Ohio) put the Eagles on the scoreboard during singles play with a victory at number five in straight sets.
The Eagles will be the sixth seed in next week's GLVC and will be scheduled to play Northern Kentucky University in the first round on April 24. The league tournament, which runs April 24-25, will be played in St. Louis, Missouri.
