Since the University of Southern Indiana men's tennis team won its fifth GLVC championship in seven years last spring, the squad has undergone significant change and fans will need a score card to know who is on the court to begin the 2005-06 campaign. Head Coach Ross Brown returns two players form his starting line-up and two reserves.

Brown begins his fourth season at the helm of the Eagles. He has a 37-25 overall record in three season with the Eagles, leading the squad to three NCAA Division II Tournament appearances and to last season's GLVC regular season and tournament championships.

The leading returnee is senior Ryan Hughes, a three-year starter. Hughes was the number four singles player in 2004-05, compiling a 16-10 overall record and was a perfect 6-0 in the GLVC. He also combined with two different doubles partners to post a 19-9 record and was 10-2 at number one doubles with the departed Joe Epkey.

Following Hughes in the singles line-up is sophomore Andrew McGuire, who played number five singles. McGuire finished his first collegiate campaign with an 8-8 overall record, but was a perfect 4-0 in the conference.

In doubles, McGuire teamed with sophomore Ryan McDaniel to produce a 2-4 record, 1-0 in the GLVC. McDaniel also saw limited action in singles, posting a 3-1 record.

USI's final returning player is sophomore Blaine Craft. Craft was a member of the team a year ago, but did not play in a match.

To fill the holes left from the departure of four of USI's top six players, Brown has added five freshmen -- two from abroad, one from California, and two from Indiana. New to the squad are Christoph Burger, from Germany; Bodene Scott, from Australia; Nathan Moore, from Santee, California; Marc Stevens, from Mt. Vernon, Indiana; and Dustin Thomas, from Corydon, Indiana.
