USI men’s cross county takes
third in GLVC Championships

The University of Southern Indiana men’s cross country team placed third in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships hosted by USI on Saturday morning. The third place showing is only the fifth time since 1979 that the Eagles have not finished first or second in the event. The Eagles have won the championship 12 times, more than any other GLVC school.

USI was led by senior Jon Jacob (Mt. Vernon), who was second with a time of 32:37 over the 10k USI Cross Country Course. Jacob, who had a 5:15 pace, trailed Lewis University’s Arturo Cabral across the finish line. Cabral had a time of 31:54, a 5:08 pace. 

Jacob was named All-GLVC with the second place finish.

The Eagles now prepare for the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional on Saturday, November 4, in Ashland, Ohio, and hosted by Ashland University.
