USI women’s tennis makes it 2-0 with home-opening win

USI 6, Indiana University Southeast 3

The University of Southern Indiana women’s tennis team opened their 2000 home schedule with a 6-3 win against Indiana University Southeast (4-1), pushing their record to 2-0 on the season. 

USI won four of six matches in singles play, including dominating performances from sophomore Emily Blinzinger (Oakland City, Indiana) and senior Kelly Sergesketter (Evansville, Indiana).

Blinzinger, won her number two singles match, 8-3, against Amy Bogard-Bates while Sergesketter won her number three singles match, 8-0, against Jessica Staggs.

The Eagles will be in action twice on Saturday when they open up their conference schedule, hosting Indiana University/Purdue University Ft. Wayne at 9 a.m. and the University of Indianapolis at 3:00 p.m.
