USI softball drops second straight at GLVC/GLIAC Showdown,

University of Southern Indiana (26-14): 0
The University of Southern Indiana softball team lost its second consecutive game late Saturday night at the GLVC/GLIAC Showdown in South Bend, Indiana. The Screaming Eagles were struck out 14 times and recorded just one hit as they fell to Ashland University, 2-0. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 26-14 on the season.
Senior pitcher Danielle Garnett
(Griffith, Indiana) was charged with the loss after giving up two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Garnett (16-7) gave up just four hits and a walk while striking out five batters.
USIís games against Lake Superior State University and Ferris State University, scheduled for Sunday, were cancelled due to rain. The Eagles were scheduled to play a total of six games this weekend at the GLVC/GLIAC Showdown, but played just two of those six games.
The Eagles will travel to Bellarmine University this Wednesday, April 24. First pitch for the non-conference doubleheader is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Louisville, Kentucky.

Late rally falls short as USI softball win-streak stops at 12

The University of Southern Indiana softball team saw its 12-game winning streak end this afternoon as it fell to Northwood University, 4-3, in the GLVC/GLIAC Showdown at the Belleville Softball Complex in South Bend, Indiana. The Screaming Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh and had the tying run thrown out at the plate as they fell to 26-13 on the season.
Freshman Brandy Bates
(Boonville, Indiana) gave up seven hits and four runs as she was charged with the loss. Bates struck out eight batters as she fell to 4-1 on the season.
The Eagles will play Ashland University later this evening.
