USI softball games to be broadcasted on WSWI AM 820,
Senior day scheduled for April 19
The University of Southern Indiana softball team will have 14 games broadcast on the student station, WSWI AM 820, this season. The broadcasts will start with this Saturday’s Great Lakes Valley Conference opener at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
In addition to Saturday’s doubleheader, WSWI will broadcast the USI-Bellarmine University doubleheader (March 26) the USI-Lewis doubleheader (March 29) and the USI-Wisconsin-Parkside doubleheader (March 30).
WSWI also will broadcast USI’s GLVC doubleheader at Kentucky Wesleyan on April 15 as well as the USI-St. Joseph’s doubleheader on April 18. It also will broadcast USI’s regular-season home finale against Brescia University on April 28.
“It is exciting for us to have our games on the radio,” USI head coach Sue Kunkle said. “The girls have worked hard and it is nice to see they will start getting some exposure.”
“We are excited to have the softball team being aired on AM 820,” WSWI sports director Tony Black said. “They are certainly a team that is in contention on the national level.”
USI also announced that Senior Day will be held Saturday, April 19, when the Eagles take on the University of Indianapolis. USI will be honoring its six seniors between games and a small picnic will be held after the second game. Fans are encouraged to bring a covered dish or desert to share.
