USI softball names Medico assistant coach

The University of Southern Indiana softball team announced Annie Medico as its new assistant coach. Medico will assist head coach Sue Kunkle in all facets of the USI softball program.

“Annie is going to bring a lot to our program,” Kunkle said. “She has knowledge and a true desire to coach.”

A 2003 graduate of Southwest Missouri State University, Medico spent the 2003 season as a student assistant for the SMSU Bears. She helped direct the Bears to a 29-25 record.

Prior to serving as a student assistant, Medico was a two-time All-Missouri Valley Conference performer for SMSU. She appeared in 201 games during her SMSU career, recording 125 hits and driving in 56 runs.

“Annie is skilled at several areas of the game and will be very useful to our team,” Kunkle said. “I am very excited she is here with USI and look forward to coaching with her.”

A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Medico has a Bachelor of Science degree in recreation and leisure studies.
