USI-KWC doubleheader moved to Tuesday
EVANSVILLE, Ind.óRain showers and the threat of thunderstorms has forced the University of Southern Indiana-Kentucky Wesleyan College softball doubleheader, scheduled for today at 3 p.m. at the USI Softball Field, to be moved to Tuesday, April 27. First-pitch is slated for noon at the USI Softball Field.
USIís doubleheader with McKendree College that was moved to April 27 has been cancelled.
The Screaming Eagles (20-21, 8-6 GLVC) will resume play Saturday when they travel to St. Louis to take on the University of Missouri-St. Louis in a noon doubleheader.
USI is currently in fourth place in the GLVC and, with six games left, can move as high as third in the GLVC standings by the time the regular season concludes. The Eagles are followed closely in the stadings by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. UWP (26-17, 10-8 GLVC) has the tie-breaker with the Eagles after sweeping USI in Kenosha, Wisconsin last Saturday.
Fifth-ranked Northern Kentucky University (41-3, 13-1 GLVC) leads the GLVC, while #19 Lewis University (36-10, 16-2 GLVC) has secured at least the second seed in the GLVC Tournament.
Missouri-St. Louis (20-25, 7-9 GLVC) is sixth in the league standings, while Kentucky Wesleyan (4-30, 1-13 GLVC) is in last place in the GLVC.
The Eagles return home to play #21 Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in a noon doubleheader on Sunday. SIU Edwardsville (30-14, 12-4 GLVC) is in third in the league standings.
USI will honor six seniors Sunday as part of its Senior Day and USI Varsity Club Day festivities. Second baseman Brooke Biggs (Osceola, Indiana), outfielder Jessica Brown (Evansville, Indiana), pitcher/third baseman Shannon Emmons (Boonville, Indiana), catcher/utility player Kristen Houseworth (Martinsville, Indiana), shortstop Nichole Pike (Fairfield, Illinois), and first baseman Monica Tepe (Granger, Indiana) will be recognized in between games.
